Sunday's Lafayette Christmas parade canceled due to weather conditions

The 2024 Sonic Christmas Parade through downtown Lafayette, scheduled for Sunday, has been canceled due to expected rain throughout the day.The parade was set to roll at 1 p.m., beginning at the Jefferson Street underpass and heading toward the Oil Center. 



The forecast calls for high chances of rain all throughout Sunday, especially at the parade's start time.No announcement has been made regarding rescheduling the event.

The New Orleans Pelicans are re-signing 6-foot-7 forward Matt Ryan just days after waiving him. 

The Pels brought back the 27-year-old on Tuesday, welcoming him back on social media. In 28 games with New Orleans last year, Ryan shot a career-high 45.1% from outside the arc.

These Kenner little leaguers took down a South Korean team to be named world champions

The Eastbank Little League team traveled from Kenner, Louisiana, to Livermore, California, where they won the Little League Baseball Intermediate 50/70 Baseball World Series on Sunday. 

Representing the Southwest Region, the Kenner boys beat the Asia-Pacific team from Seoul, South Korea, 8-7, to finish a perfect 5-0 in the tournament. The World Championship game was televised on ESPN+.

Louisiana man arrested for allegedly putting weights in fish at Toledo Bend bass tournament

The phrase "cheaters never prosper" tends to apply everywhere, especially at the Big Bass Splash fishing tournament in Sabine Parish. 

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents were notified of a participant placing lead weights inside of a fish during the Big Bass Splash weigh-in on May 17. Upon arrival at the tournament, LDWF agents found 2.59 pounds of lead weights in a fish caught and weighed by Aaron Moreau from Pollock, LA.
